Procurement Manager

Verne are seeking an experienced and dynamic Procurement Manager to join our team.

Reports to: Head of Project Management

Type: Full Time

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement activities for our data center development projects, ensuring that all goods and services are acquired at the best possible value while meeting quality and delivery requirements. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, dispute management skills, and a deep understanding of the data center industry. Travel to Verne data centers and data center construction is required as part of the job function.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Procurement Strategies:

  • Formulate and execute procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Analyse market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop and implement strategies for securing long term supply chain protection for key supplies.

Vendor Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, service, and reliability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts to secure advantageous terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance and compliance with contractual obligations.

Procurement Operations:

  • Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to understand and fulfill their procurement needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and inventory levels.
  • Maintain a database of product options including potential suppliers, costs, and lead times.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the procurement budget.
  • Implement cost control measures to achieve financial targets.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and reporting for the Project Management Organisation (PMO). 
  • Develop and implement strategies for TCO analysis.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain, supplier reliability, and market volatility.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and performance.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification desired or evidence of continued professional growth.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement management, preferably in the data center or technology sector.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, practices, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
