Alexander Picchietti joins Verne Global as Senior Director, Strategic Alliances. The newly created role will forge alliances to drive inward investment into Iceland

Verne Global, a provider of advanced data center solutions for high performance computing (HPC), today announced the appointment of Alexander Picchietti in the newly created role of Senior Director, Strategic Alliances. Picchietti will be responsible for forging and nurturing relationships with key industry partners, expanding the ecosystem of service providers and vendors required to meet the complex needs of global organisations locating their compute-intensive workloads in Iceland. He will be based at Verne Global’s Keflavik campus.

Verne Global has established partnerships with leading hardware manufacturers including Dell, Intel and NVIDIA, as well as systems integrators and managed service providers located in Iceland that assist with the installation and maintenance of these complex systems. It also works closely with power and network providers to offer customers a comprehensive portfolio of data center services. Picchietti will focus on deepening these relationships, as well as establishing new strategic partnerships.

Picchietti joins Verne Global with a proven track record in leadership roles in the technology and telecoms sectors, in the US and, since 2006, in Iceland. Most recently he was Global Cloud Services director at Crayon, while he has also held senior management positions at Sensa, Basis and Siminn.

“Verne Global has a strong history of partnering with industry-leading companies in order to offer its customers the best technology, that’s backed-up with the best service, all within a highly specialist and optimised data center environment,” said Picchietti. “I’m excited to be joining the team to grow this ecosystem of companies and services, and ultimately make Iceland the go-to destination for global HPC projects.”

“Alexander’s experience of working across a range of technology and telecoms businesses, in both North America and Iceland, makes him ideally suited to spearheading our alliances programme. We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome him to the Verne Global team,” said Dominic Ward, CEO, Verne Global.
