Blog: Verne achieves EN 50600 certification in Iceland for reliability and resilience

Written by joycewady | 19.12.2024

Verne is proud to announce a significant milestone: achieving EN 50600 certification for one of our data halls in Iceland. As the first data center operator in Iceland to earn this rigorous certification, Verne is setting a new benchmark for reliability, energy efficiency, and operational excellence. This achievement was made possible through our partnership with TÜV NORD, a globally recognized certification body with extensive expertise in assessing high-quality industry standards.

What is EN 50600 Certification?

EN 50600 is a European standard that evaluates the design, construction, and operation of data center facilities. It ensures stringent criteria are met for availability, energy efficiency, and risk management. Unlike broader certifications, EN 50600 allows operators to certify specific data halls rather than entire facilities. This approach enables targeted improvements and validation, making it particularly relevant in regions like Europe, where reliability and sustainability are critical to infrastructure demands.

EN 50600 is governed by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), an organization dedicated to developing standards that enhance the safety, performance, and efficiency of electrical systems across Europe. With the rapid growth of data-driven applications such as AI and machine learning, adhering to standards like EN 50600 ensures that data center facilities can support demanding workloads while maintaining energy efficiency and reliability.

Leading the Way in Iceland

For Verne, achieving EN 50600 in Iceland reflects our dedication to delivering best-in-class infrastructure for customers managing high-performance workloads. It reinforces our ability to deliver consistent and resilient services while meeting the expectations of European enterprises and global businesses.

Verne designs its infrastructure with the future in mind, adapting to the rapidly growing demands of compute-intensive workloads and preparing for the next generation of AI-driven innovation. Achieving this certification is a testament to our ongoing commitment to operational excellence and sustainable data center solutions.
